Big Tall Dogs

I just received an order for a generic portrait on slate of a Bouvier des Flandres pet. These are very large dogs.
He will be shipped on Monday. At this time of year I must dedicate my total time to orders. He is to be shipped to North Carolina. The order came through bigtalldogs.com --if you have a big dog that is a site you may want to look at. Naturally I had some packing help from the devoted EMMA.

A NEW CHALLENGE

It seem I have very creative clients. They are always coming up with something new for me to ply my art. This is the second one of these I have done for her---It entails painting a pets image on an infants undershirt---since babies have such delicate skin I first painted the images onto a piece of wood --took photos with my trusty Nikon DSLR70 and then transferred them to my MACBOOK PRO. I then printed them on to transfer paper and ironed them on to the shirts. The Springer Spaniel is very sweet dog. The jury is out on the other one !!

Scottie Mailbox

The Scottie Mailbox is finally ready to ship. It had to cure for two weeks using a tile , metal and glass medium. This insures that the paint can not be dissolved short of an explosion. EMMA of course had to be involved . She was able to get three fourths of the way into the box before realizing that she could not curl up inside---what good is it ????

Leash Racks

I have had very few orders for leash racks this year. Now all of a sudden I have 6 orders--a couple of portraits and the rest generic to a breed. TIS THE SEASON has reared its head---I have been working on a canvas painting of 2 dogs today--hope tp finish by tomorrow . This will free up some time to design and draw the dogs for the racks--that is the more time consuming aspect of the projects--then transfer to wood , cut out and then enjoy paining--I have enclosed some photos of past racks so you can get the gist of what I am writing about. EMMA is sound asleep--a situation I had best get to if I want to work tomorrow.

SLATES on their way

Yesterday I managed to ship out 4 more slates. The Australian Shepherd was originally purchased through a shop in Stone Harbor NJ that retails my work. I had made it a Blue merle --the customer bought it as the expression on the dogs face reminded her of her pet. She later contacted me to paint one of her dog which was a red merle and requested that I recolor (get out the crayons---only kidding) that she at purchased at " Alice's " in Stone Harbor. I also shipped out 2 other slates to Georgia--a Yorkie and a Shih Tzu. Just received an order for a portrait leash rack of an adorable pup from Maryland---I will have to awaken EMMA to help me with this one.

MAILBOXES

It is 4 AM and I have been working on a Scottie mailbox--generic to the breed. I am letting it sit for a while before I find it finished. I will then put a coat of glass and metal medium over the painting that has to cure for about 2 weeks. Once it is cured nothing can remove the image short of an explosion--this medium is also applied under all layers of paint--it makes a proper surface to paint on metals and glass---I am enclosing some photos of previous mailboxes that I have painted--some are generic to a breed while others are pet portraits.

BEWARE OF DOG

On occasion a client will request a sign to warn others of their evil and unstable pet. These signs can portray their furry friend or be generic to the breed--They are really scary--!!!! I don't think they are much of a warning--TOO cut !!!

PRUNING, PLANTING, PACKING

It is another beautiful day here in Northern New Jersey so I took advantage of it to prune my rose bushes etc. and plant some bulbs. EMMA and DINO were not able to help as they are indoor cats but I am sure when I pack up my last order of shelf dogs they will be of great assistance.

These wooden pets are all generic to their breed. I learned that there is such a thing as a seal colored Boston Terrier. I thought they only came in black and white or brindle and white--hopefully I will get these to UPS tomorrow as Wed. is a Federal Holiday.--These items can not only sit on a shelf put can be just as comfortable atop a desk top commuter. They are a good alternative to a canvas painting of your pet if you are out of wall space etc. They are easy to move around to different sites.

Card from paintings

When I ship out pet portraits I include a card printed on my MAC to my client. My Ca. client requested 48 cards be printed of the 3 items I painted of her pussy cats; They went out yesterday

morning via UPS--takes 5 days to reach the West Coast--priority mail would probably be faster but the tracking system is superior with UPS. The flat price priority mail boxes can be cheaper but not all things fit properly in the boxes offered--any thing over 3lbs is usually cheaper via UPS. I also shipped out to slates to a shop in Pa--wholesale--I featured them last week--I had to wait to ship until the credit card cleared--tis the seaon some cc get maxed out--all settled went through yesterday--They will receive their order today as we are in the same shipping zone. Well off to paint some more for a larger order for a shop in Georgia, another wholesale order. It's 3AM--a wonderful peaceful time to paint !

Oh , yes---EMMA helped me pack !!!!
